A SHORT-FUSED PROBLEM
A company supplying the aviation industry regularly suffers machine failures, leading to massive problems in sensitive bottlenecks further downstream. Neither the supplier nor experts sent by the machine manufacturer are able to find a solution.
The S.QE experts put on their detective hats and go looking for the problem – which they find in the machine’s main fuse box. Short-circuits
are shutting the machine down. But their cause remains unclear. Forensic investigations show that microscopic carbon-fiber particles from the supplier’s production process are being sucked in by the fuse box ventilation system. Insulation spray at €38 per liter solves the problem, reducing the error rate by 95 percent and saving the company almost €120,000 per year.
